Another Stormy Day

In a follow up to John Mavin's last feature `A Stormy Day' I have produced another from his latest batch of photographs depicting the rather stormy events of November 17th 2006.

On Friday the 17th November we had Southerly gales here in Dover. The wind was gusting to 60 knots and was causing quiet a few difficulties for the ports ferry traffic. At one point in the afternoon there were 6 ferries riding out the gales awaiting entry to the port.

Nearly all ferry arrivals and departures were requiring tug assistance which meant a busy day for the harbour boards only serviceable tug DHB Doughty (her sister DHB Dauntless is currently having a routine dry docking).
